Lord I Need You

Today in church our amazing worship team lead us in “Lord I Need You” by Matt Maher. As I stood singing I realized that every word in this song is exactly how I feel ~ I was overcome with emotion.

The transition from Africa, to Anna and Abigail’s Heaven Day, to a spontaneous promised trip to Disneyland and now back at home has been very emotional ~ from being filled with extreme joy to being filled with deep deep sorrow. These feelings are very overwhelming and often take my breath away.

I have no idea where I would be without Him. He fills my heart with a peace that only He can provide and without Him I would fall apart.

These words are so simple, perfect and singing them mean so much to me. I am so grateful for His love and kindness He provides every second of every day!

“Lord, I Need You”

Lord, I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You’re the One that guides my heart

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I’ll fall on You
Jesus, You’re my hope and stay

Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

You’re my one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

  1. That song is very inspiring to me too – another is You Never Let Go by Matt Redman. My life changed (continues!) dramatically in July 2013 and even though it has been a roller coaster even now, God used it to call me home to Him and put me on His path. I am thankful that He is there for all of us!

  2. I love the line “teach my song to rise to you when temptation comes my way.” Temptation has many forms- temptation to indulge in something, to have self-pity, to justify our sin, or…whatever gets us off track with God. The cure for this is to sing praises to Him! Puts our focus where it should be. I know this is true for me. 🙂

  4. Lots and lots of prayers for you. There are never the perfect words or even any words that can come close to being adequate to help comfort you. I just keep on asking God to keep holding you up and being there to fill your heart.
